Officer Loses 2 Jobs After Posting Racial Slur on Snapchat

A Pennsylvania police officer lost not one, but two jobs after she posted a racially charged comment on social media.

Melissa Adamson posted a photo of her wearing her uniform from a town where she used to work, along with the caption, “I’m the law today n*****.”

With relations between police and  African-Americans already strained, this is obviously an image bound to cause a stir.

Adamson was let go from her position as a part-time officer in the town of McKeesport, whose mayor, Michael Cherepko, addressed the situation on Facebook.

Adamson also resigned from her job as a part-time officer in the town of Versailles.

Adamson apologized for what happened. She also said the photo was published by a former co-worker who has it in for her. Whatever the reason, Adamson said, “Everyone that knows me knows I don’t have a racist bone in my body. And people who don’t know me, I can understand why it was misconstrued to where it looks racist. But like I said, everyone who knows me knows I’m not racist.”

“I don’t want this to affect how I do my job,” she added. “I don’t want people to look at me differently, thinking that I can’t build myself up to the standard of a police officer,” Adamson said. “Again, it was a stupid mistake. It shouldn’t have been posted in general, regardless of how my intentions were.”
